The Bedford County Wilderness Search Team Inc. (BCWST) is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives in the outdoors.  The mission of the team is to provide education, mitigation, and search and rescue services in regards to lost person and injured person incidents occurring in a wilderness environment.  The Bedford County Wilderness Search Team will offer a high degree of service by having dedicated, highly trained employees using modern equipment and methods in an effective and efficient manner.

All members of the BCWST are experienced emergency services members from a varied and diverse background.  Members of the team come from Fire Departments (both career and volunteer), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Law Enforcement Agencies, Civil Air Patrol, Ski Patrols, and other Search and Rescue Teams.

 The Bedford County Wilderness Search Team's Primary service area is the Southern Alleghenies region of Pennsylvania.  The Southern Alleghenies region covers the counties of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Somerset, Huntingdon, and Fulton.  The Bedford County Wilderness Search Team will also respond throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania when requested by the agency in charge of the search.
