Search Management Strike Team

Overview

The Search Management Strike Team was developed by the Bedford County Wilderness Search Team as a management tool to solely manage and/or assist the proper authorities in managing a lost person search.  The Incident Command System is used by our management team to see that agency resources are used to their fullest ability.  Our management team trains with all other strike teams within the BCWST so that the management team can gain a better understanding of how to best deploy our teams personnel on actual missions.

Search Management Specialist

The Search Management Specialist must be a graduate of an approved 40 hour search management course.  This is in addition to the base team requirements.  All call out qualified personnel hold a minimum certification of NASAR SARTech III and must complete a 16 hour NFA approved Incident Command System class.  All field qualified personnel have achieved a minimum certification of  NASAR SARTech II and are certified in Wilderness First Aid.

Safety

The Search Management Strike Team uses an accountability process that ensures all personnel who are signed in at a mission are accounted for at all times.

Mobile Command

In July 2006 BCWST acquired a mobile command vehicle. This vehicle is sponsored by Stoystown Auto Wreckers in Stoystown, PA.  Currently the vehicle is under construction and pictures will be posted here as work progresses.
